About the Taiwan Microbiome Database

Over the last decade, the microbiome has become one of the most popular research areas in academics. More and more research has made clear that the microbiome is fundamental to the overall health of human populations. Therefore, the potential applications of the microbiome in medical areas can be made by identifying specific microbiome targets as preventive or therapeutic solutions. We aimed to build a microbiome database of Taiwan populations, and expect the improvement of Taiwanese that suffering from the sub-health problems, which contribute to the establishment of the Taiwan Microbiome database (Twnbiome). This database was established in cooperation with the GenoRx Co., Ltd. in 2020. Thanks to the advance of the technique, we can use high-throughput Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) to analyze the healthy gut microbiome composition from the stool samples.
